Equipment usually outlives its battery, and the original pack is often discontinued long before the machine is. Rebuilding the battery is almost always cheaper than replacing what it powers.
You do not need the specification
This is the most common worry we hear, and it is not an obstacle. Send:
- A photo of the old pack, from a couple of angles
- A clear photo of its label, if there is one left
- A photo of the connector, and of the compartment it sits in
- What the equipment is
From that we can normally establish the voltage, the approximate capacity, the chemistry and the connector type, and come back with what we would build.
What a rebuild involves
We match the original electrical specification and physical envelope, select cells and a BMS appropriate to the equipment's actual current draw, assemble and wire the pack, fit the connector, then charge and discharge test it before it ships.
Where the original was underspecified — and it often was, because the original was built to a price — we will tell you what a better configuration would cost. Higher capacity in the same space is frequently possible with current cells.
What we will tell you honestly
If the equipment is not worth the rebuild, or if the fault is more likely to be the charger or the equipment than the battery, we will say so before quoting. A pack that fails again in three months helps neither of us.
