Cabinets and racks for installations where the battery bank has to be housed properly rather than stacked on the floor — commercial premises, plant rooms, telecom sites and industrial installations.
What a cabinet is actually for
Three things, in order of importance:
- Thermal management. Batteries packed together without a path for heat to leave will run hotter than the ones on the outside, age unevenly, and the weakest module will determine the life of the bank.
- Access and serviceability. A module that fails should be replaceable without dismantling the rest of the bank.
- Physical and electrical safety. Terminals covered, cabling supported, and the enclosure rated for where it will stand.
Specified with the bank, not after it
The cabinet has to suit the modules going into it, the busbar and cable runs, the inverter position and the ventilation available in the room. Choosing it after the battery is ordered is how installations end up with cable runs that are too long and clearances that are too tight.
